More picture of Uva to enjoy

I call this Hannibal Lecter the Uva way!!!

UVA goes to the Vet!!!

OK...so this weekend we spent time at my parents painting their house. Uva was there as well giving us moral support until she got into a fight with "Chiquitin" my dad's dog - Saturday night.

She was bit in the left paw. For those of you who know me, this may come as a surprise, I did not cry!!! Amazing!!! She bleed all over my hand as I cleaned her wound. I carried her for a few hours until I decided she was better and put her to walk on her own. That's where the story starts:

She would run and Michael would call her and she was fine,
I would call her and she would limp,
Michael called her and she was fine and
I would call her and she would limp.
This continued all Saturday and Sunday.
A sight to see... everyone was amazed.

She is so spoiled by her mom, me!!!
Anyways, I didn't think much of it on Saturday but at night I barely slept thinking about Uva and her paw and the complications that can arise from a dog bit.

I woke up on Sunday and I cried!!! I begged Michael to take her to the vet and he did. He took her today. They had to put a muzzle on her and gave her 2 shots, antibiotics and a soft cast. He told me she was a brave little soldier and was even given a doggy treat for such great behavior.

Here are the pictures of my cute little girl.

Enjoy!!!

Halloween: To celebrate or not to celebrate... That is the Question

Talk to 100 Christian and you may have 100 shades of opinion about the celebration of Halloween. Some Christians turn on their porch lights and welcome trick-or-treaters with candy and a specially prepares Halloween evangelism tract. Others turn off their lights and go to their churches for a Harvest festival.
What is a God Loving Gal to do?
All I can say is:
GOD made this day just like He made all the her days and we don't have to give it to Satan. Celebrate the harvest and the free gift that God has given us.

What do you think?

Daddy Material???

There are so many things that "Our Father" blesses us with: Salvation, Eternal Life, Forgiveness, Family, Friends and the opportunity to experience his miracles everyday. More and more often our friends and family are asking us about starting a family. We think about it all the time. I think about things like: "What will Uva say?" "What will I wear?" "Will I be a good mom?" But it's times like the one the picture captures below that leaves me awestruck. When I see this all my fears and whatifs go away. God is so great and I know he will surely bless us with kids we can raise in his image.
If this is how my husband looks at Ethan: I can only imagine how he will look at our child.
What do you think... Daddy Material???

Remember Everything?

Ever had a problem remembering everything. Well here is something that blew me away.
It's Evernote.

Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.

How does Evernote do it?
Three steps:
1. You capture the things you want to remember using what you already use—your Windows or Mac computer, the web, and your mobile phone.
2. They run everything through recognition technology and then make it all available across your devices. You can then organize and tag the notes, if you want.
3. When you want to remember something, just search for it and there it is just like you remember it.

It even takes a picture of text and turns it into texts for you to use later. Super cool!!!

You gotta try it!!! Let me know what you think. They even have Evernote for the iPhone!!

Celia Cruz at the Carnival Center

"Celia: La vida y musica de Celia Cruz"
What an awesome spectacle; it was unbelievable!!! The lead "Anissa Gathers" was phenomenal, sounded the same and had the same mannerisms as Celia Cruz, they could have not picked a better performer for the part.
Wonderful music, wonderful arrangement, wonderfully put together. It was an amazing journey in the life of Celia as seen by her loving husband "Pelucho". You will laugh, cry and get out of your seat dancing.
Many thanks to our great friend Heredes and Marcy for this great experience. We already bought tickets to see it again...Can't wait!!!

Baby Ethan

What a beautiful creation of GOD!!!

I never really reflected upon it. But we are true beauty. A true masterpiece of God's love.

I was listening to the radio on the way home and someone made a comment that made so much sense. They said something like: When we truly surrender to God, we become new beings without our own reflection, without our own goals and we become a true reflection of Jesus.

In looking at Ethan I see the peace and true love God wants us to experience. Unconditional!

We should be grateful of God's love... may we always be able to see God's creations and truly understand that God loves us not because he has to, or wants to, but because he can.

La "Campanita"

Did you know that the "Campanita" (the little thing that hangs in the back of your throat) is called The UVULA. It is made of muscle and connective tissue and is covered with the same mucous membrane that lines the inside of your cheeks and the roof of your mouth.

We this past Sunday I had a swollen UVULA. On Saturday Michael and I had dinner at Lario's at we ordered "Chicharones de Pescado" (it's the best plate there). INSIGHT: fish is made with lemon, I'm allergic to lemon, therefore I'm allergic to this fish. We had a great time (BTW, I always eat fish at Lario's) About 1 hour later we were sitting in "Ivan's room" playing Guitar Hero when I started to sneeze uncontrollably. I took 2 Benadryl and went to sleep. Slept like a baby and when it was time to get up I looked like this:

Obviously with longer hair, lighter skin and my ears were not swollen.

Anyways when I went to talk I sounded like an echo chamber and when I went to swallow I almost choked. Turns out my Uvula was swollen and obstructing my airway and throat.Needless to say I did not go to church (sad about that), and I went back to sleep.
I'm better now, no more swollen Uvula - and no more "Chicharones de Pescado."

I sure learned a lesson from this... I should have ordered a: Chicken Cesar Salad with Frijoles on the Side.
Everything tastes better with "Frijoles on the side"

UPDATE on the Blog

OK... so it's been a long time and lot's has happened.

The Sun as risen and the Sun has set on many beautiful days in the life of a happy frijol.

Many grrrrrreat things are in the works!!!

Did you know that Rumbero King and I have been partaking in a great pastime called "exercise". It has been very grueling, very intense and very hard to keep up with. We have three more session lefts with our personal trainer, GEO. He is busting our chops and we already see the difference. Pray for us so we keep it up after the sessions cease to exist.

Here are some other cool things that are happening:

Lizbet (my BFF) is about to give birth, she gets induced tomorrow at 8:30am at Mercy Hospital. Ethan is officially on his way into the world. (Let's keep them in your prayers)

Michael had an argument with Tony. For those of you who don't know Tony. He is awesome, fun loving but can't stand Michael. The face-off is on video...it will be up soon.

Saturday (June 7th) is the "Indoor Picnic and a Movie" - super excited, many preparations are under way. I hope you can share in the magic - 11:30am at FRC Doral.

Took myself in for a tune-up on Monday and so far so good. All systems are a "GO".

Very excited about work, church, learning about GOD and serving him. Super excited about Ethan, my new body, my future and my husband. See you next time and be on the look-out for "What's-Up Wednesday's" where I fill you in on the week's happenings, I ask questions and hopefully answer some of yours.

See you next time and remember, "Everthing tastes better with Frijoles on the Side"!!!

Discover Your Best!!!

I've taken some time to think about what I want to do with my life and the time that I have to do those things in. Sometimes I feel that "If I didn't work, I could get so much done!" and other times I feel "If I could just work harder, I could get so much done!" Perfectionism in ourselves is a big problem. First, we must understand that we are not perfect but imperfect and within that imperfection there is something we are perfectly made for... I was made to serve GOD.

With every phase in life come opportunities that are presented: Recently I met this lady Sheila at a Job Fair I was working. She spoke to me about her kids (fighting in the war), her family, her life and what she was doing to make it better. After we spoke we introduced ourselves to each other. I had a great feeling about her and I think the feeling was mutual. She spoke to me about BeautiControl and how it was helping her to be free.

Michael, of course, was a skeptic and wanted to know more. We visited Sheila at a booth she was hosting at a local Women's Health Fair. We spoke to Sheila and her husband and we learned that they are Christian. What awesome news!! It's really encouraging when biblical advise is given, unsolicited. Needless to say I bought into this idea of BeautiControl and Spa Escape and I signed up as an Independant Beauty Consultant. God willing this adventure will allow me to showcase my imperfection and BeautiControl it, while reaching people for Christ.

So to all you out there in blogville, never forget who you serve (God) and always surround yourself with greatness and sow those seeds every way that you can.

If you want to learn more about BeautiControl or if you want to experience a Spa Escape, get some friends together, call me and I'll be there.

"In our imperfection lies what we were perfectly made for"

And always remember "Everything tastes better with Frijoles on the side."

Work is of the essence!!!

Being that "WORK" is my "JOB", I thought I would write a little, to give you some food for thought:
The unemployment rate in Miami-Dade was 3.9 percent in January 2008 and the economists say that Miami leads the State in the growth of employment opportunities.

There are many that I try to assist on a daily basis but this one in particular is the most important of them all.

Take a look at his resume and let me know:

Blogville here I come... feels a little weird but after great coaching from Heredes I am finally up and running.

The weather is Cool, the fireplace lit ... and in the distance Michael is singing... no wait, more like yelling (for the 5th time) "Try to finish that up momma...I want you to make some cafe con leche." I must say that it has been an adventure: I start my blog, I finish his and then back to mine; but cafe con leche comes first. So after a warm cup of cafe con leche I complete my first official entry.

Cheers to great blogging and to the beginning of an awesome week.
